Moving an OBD device with a Y-cable to a new vehicle (EKKO)


You can uninstall the current devices and reinstall them on the new vehicles.

As the devices are installed with a Y-cable, this cable must also be recovered and reinstalled on the new vehicle.

Installation steps:

  1. Switch off the vehicle ignition and locate the OBD port.
  2. Release the original OBD connector (screws / clips).
  3. Connect the Y-cable to the vehicle’s OBD port.
  4. Remount the Y-cable’s replacement OBD connector in the original location, using the bracket suited to the vehicle.
  5. Connect the device to the free branch of the Y-cable and secure the assembly properly.
  6. Switch the ignition on to power the device.

Once installation is complete, activation can be done via the EKKO app with your EKKOFleet credentials: register the device (QR code or serial number), add the new vehicle (license plate and VIN), then pair/activate.

If needed, you can also send us for each device its serial number or IMEI, along with the VIN and license plate of the new vehicle.

Please note: as the installation is carried out by you, we cannot be held responsible for any malfunction of the device or the vehicle resulting from incorrect installation or improper connection. If you have any doubt during the installation, we recommend using a qualified installer.
